ENGLISH -- COVID-19: Survival Guide

The COVID-19 situation is changing quickly.  Now for some medical facts about the virus that has taken a prominent place in the news as it has moved from China to other countries.  This is a new virus thus people do not have any immunity to it. There is no vaccine for COVID-19 although one is being developed.  A usable, safe vaccine may be many months away.
COVID-19 has an incubation period of at least 14 days. Influenza has an incubation period far shorter, one to four days.  This means that a person who is infected with COVID-19 will spread the virus for at least 14 days without appearing to be ill.  That is a long time in which to pass on the virus. Many, many people can be infected by one person and depending on the environments surrounding the viral shedding person, such as in a plane, prison, nursing home, etc. the amount of spreading can be ridiculously high.  With influenza, the infected person feels sick quickly and has less time in which to spread the influenza virus. Even with the shorter incubation period for influenza, the numbers of infections are very high, higher than with COVID-19.
So, what can we do to prevent getting COVID-19, novel coronavirus 2019, and quite frankly also the regular yearly influenza?  There are measures you can take to help you to avoid getting ill. It is not a given that you cannot fight back against COVID-19.
The earliest data for COVID-19 viral infections is that it quickly affects older adults with pre-existing/underlying medical conditions of the heart, lung, and kidneys. The immune system in older adults is less robust than when they were younger, so they have a decreased ability to fight off infections and diseases. This is the group that is dying from COVID-19 infections.
Since the older age group is at increased risk to be infected with COVID-19, there are certain precautions they can take to protect themselves.
  • Stay at home as much as possible.
  • When you have to be in public or travel, stay away from anyone who may be sick and wash, wash, wash your hands with soap and water and keep hands away from your face: nose, eyes, mouth.
  • Keep enough of your medications and any medical supplies you will need for several weeks on hand.
  • Avoid crowds
  • Avoid plane travel due to planes being poorly ventilated
  • If you rely on anyone for support, be sure you have backups if he or she becomes ill.
What about the rest of us? Let’s start with the very obvious. Do not kiss or hug people when greeting them.  Also avoid the polite handshake for now. No high fives that involve touching another person’s hand.  Simply go with the “no” touching approach.  100% of not making physical contact.  Viruses are passed by physical contact, but also by other measures such as droplets of virus floating in the air, even after the infected person has left the area.
Scrub and wash your hands with soap and water. Use soap and lots of water and rub between your fingers, backs of hands, wrists, tips of fingers, all over and do this for at least 20 seconds. This beats using hand sanitizers when eliminating germs that have gotten onto your skin. If you are leaving a public bathroom, use the paper towel to open the door for you exit. If it was one of those places that only has a blow dryer, I hate these, use the sleeve of whatever you are wearing to grab the doorknob.  No need to take extra germs with you. Just do not touch any doorknob, in a public place, with your bare hands.
Hand sanitizers and anti-bacterial wipes are okay if you do not have access to soap and water. They are easy to carry with you, but really are not as effective as soap and water hand washings. The alcohol content in hand sanitizers varies and can be irritating to your skin. You should use a sanitizer with at least a 60% or higher alcohol content, rub hand together for at least 20 seconds and let skin air dry.
I cannot stress this important anti-virus measure enough. Refrain from touching your face, mouth, nose, and eyes.  You will not believe how many times during the day you will unconsciously bring your fingers up to your face, mouth, and eyes.  Just stop touching your face! “No touching face” will be something you will have to remind yourself of all day long. Wash your hands before touching your face at all times. You know those plastic collars that pets have to wear to keep them from licking, chewing on an area of their body that has recently be operated on or being medicated? A plastic cone/collar placed around the neck would be perfect for keeping our hands off of our faces, but alas are probably considered inappropriate. They do come in different sizes.
For heaven’s sake, stay home if you are sick. Not only will you infect others, even if you do not have COVID-19 which is the most likely case at this time, you run the risk of picking up another infection since your immune system is already being attacked. It would be helpful and ethical for employers to made adjustments for workers so they will feel free to remain home if ill.
Cover your nose and mouth with the inside elbow area of your arm when sneezing or coughing. This will prevent some of the aerosol spraying of viral droplets from being jettisoned into the air for others to inhale but will also leave viral droplets, perhaps in the form of mucous, on your clothing which will need to be removed and laundered.
Removing your shoes which you were wearing outdoors is a good practice. You will not only avoid bringing viruses into your home but will also avoid fecal-borne bacteria that will give you diarrhea which is not a symptom of COVID-19 viral infection but should be avoided none the less.
Only wear a face mask, there is already a shortage of these in some areas, if you are sick. But then again, how about the stay at home rule if you are ill?  Healthcare professionals will be wearing the masks to keep them from contracting the virus from the ill patients they are treating. Plus wearing a mask may give you a false sense that you can 100% protect yourself.
Go ahead and get that flu shot, the one for the influenza that is not COVID-19, but is making far more people sick and causing far more deaths than we are currently seeing with COVID-19. Vaccines are being developed for COVID-19 but none are available at this time. When the vaccine becomes available, it is a good idea to get one if you are considering traveling on planes.
Points to take away are:
  • COVID-19 is currently killing the elderly with underlying medical issues prior to viral infection. If possible, the elderly with coexisting medical problems should not go into public areas.
  • COVID-19 does not seem to be harming children. Children had not died from COVID-19 and the only children infected with the virus have received it from a family member. Children are dying from regular influenza.
  • Practice aggressive handwashing for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, many times a day and certainly before eating and when being out in public.
  • Do Not Touch Your Face without first completing the above handwashing.
  • As of today, March 06, influenza is making far more of an impact on Americans than COVID-19. Novel coronavirus 2019 is now called severe acute respiratory syndrome or SARS CoV- 2.
  • Tiny droplets of COVID-19 virus can remain in the air after the infected person has left the area.

«THE ART OF WAR»
The future of «America», increasingly weaponised
by Manlio Dinucci

Le Budget for the Future of America, presented by the US government, shows the priorities of the Trump Administration in the federal balance sheet for fiscal year 2021 (which begins on 1 October this year).
Above all, the intention is to reduce social spending - for example, the budget is cutting the allocation required by the Department of Health and Human Services by 10 %. While the same authorities tell us that in the USA, from October to February, approximately 10,000 deaths out of a population of 330 million were caused by colds. An information carefully gagged by the major medias, which launched a world alarm for the 770 deaths caused by the coronavirus in China, a country of 1,4 billion inhabitants which proved capable of deploying exceptional measures to limit the damage caused by the epidemic.
We cannot avoid suspicion about the real objectives of the invasive media campaign, which is spreading terror about everything Chinese, when, in the motivation of the US budget, we read that « America is facing a challenge from rival national states, particularly China and Russia ».
China is accused of « waging an economic war against the United States and their allies with cyber weapons » and « seeking to fashion in its own image the Indo-Pacific region, which is critical for the security and economic interests of the USA ». So that « the region may be free from the evil Chinese influence », the US government is giving 30 million dollars to the « Global Engagement Centre, in order to block the propaganda and disinformation from China ». In the context of « growing strategic competition », the US government declares that « the Budget's priority is to finance programmes which increase our military advantage against China, Russia and all other adversaries ».
For this purpose, President Trump has announced that « in order to guarantee internal security and promote the interests of the USA on the exterior, my budget requires 740,5 billion dollars for national Defense » (while it requires only 94,5 billion for the Department of Health and Human Services).
The military allocation includes 69 billion dollars for war operations overseas, more than 19 billion for 10 war-ships and 15 billion for 115 F-35 fighters and other aircraft, plus 11 billion to potentialise ground-based weapons.
The Pentagon's scientific and technological programmes need 14 billion dollars, destined for the development of hypersonic and directed energy weapons, spatial systems and the 5G network.
These are only a few of the items in a long list of expenses (from public money), which include all of the most advanced weapon systems, bringing colossal profits to Lockheed Martin and the other war industries.
To the Pentagon's budget must be added various expenses of a military nature listed in the budgets of other departments. For fiscal year 2021, the Department of Energy will receive 27 billion dollars for the maintenance and modernisation of its nuclear arsenal. The Department of Homeland Security will receive 52 billion for its own secret service. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs, or VA) will receive 243 billion (10 % more than the budget for 2020) for retired military personnel.
Taking into account these posts and several others, military expenditure for the United States in 2021 will exceed 1,000 billion dollars. US military expenditure has a stimulating effect on that of other countries, which nonetheless remain at much lower levels. Even if we take into account only the Pentagon's budget, US military spending is three or four times greater than that of China, and ten ntimes superior to that of Russia. So « the Budget ensures US military domination in all sectors of war – aerial, ground-based, maritime, spatial and cyber-spatial », declares the White House, announcing that the United States will shortly be able to produce 80 new nuclear warheads per year in two sites.
« The future of America » may well mean the end of the world.

Greece - the clearance sale of military bases to the United States
by Manlio Dinucci
The Greek Parliament ratified the Agreement, which grants the United States the use of all Greek military bases. They will be used by the US armed forces not only for the storage of weapons, supplies and training locations, but also for « emergency response » operations, which in reality means attack missions.
The base at Larissa is particularly important, where the US Air Force has already stored MQ-9 Reaper drones, and also the base at Stefanovikio, where the US Army has already deployed Apache and Black Hawk helicopters.
The Agreement was defined by Greek Minister for Defence Nikolaos Panayotopoulos, as « advantageous for our national interests, because it increases the importance of Greece in the context of US planning ». An importance that Greece has enjoyed for a long time – we only have to remember the bloody coup d’État perpetrated by the colonels, organised in 1967 in the context of the Stay-Behind operation directed by the CIA [1], and followed, here in Italy, with the period of massacres beginning with the attack at the Piazza Fontana in 1969 [2].
During the same year, a detachment of the US Navy was transferred from the base in Sigonella, Sicily and settled in Greece, at Souda Bay on the island of Crete. Today, Souda Bay is one of the most important USA/NATO aero-naval bases in the Mediterranean, used for the wars in the Middle East and North Africa. The Pentagon will be investing in Souda Bay the additional sum of 6 million  Euros, which will be added to the 12 million it will be investing in Larissa, announced  Panagiotopoulos, presenting it as a great opportunity for Greece.
However, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out that Athens had already signed an agreement with the Pentagon for the modernisation of the F-16 fleet, which will cost Greece 1,5 billion dollars, and that Greece is also interested by the possibility of buying drones and F-35 fighters from the USA.
Greece is also notable for being, after Bulgaria, the European ally which for many years has given the highest percentage of its GDP (2,3%) to military expenditure.
The Agreement also guarantees that the USA will enjoy « unlimited use of the port of Alexandroupolis » [3], which is situated on the Aegean Sea close to the straits of the Dardanelles,  which link the Mediterranean to the Black Sea across Turkish territory, and therefore constitute an essential passage for maritime transit, especially for Russia. Furthermore, the neighbouring territory of Eastern Thrace (the small European part of Turkey) is the point at which the gas pipeline Turk-Stream arrives from Russia via the Black Sea.
The "strategic investment" that Washington is already making in the port infrastructures, aims at making Alexandroupolis one of the most important US military bases in the region, capable of blocking the access of Russian ships to the Mediterranean, and at the same time, hindering China which hopes to make Piraeus an important port of call on the New Silk Road.
«We are working with other democratic partners in the region to fend off evil actors like Russia and China  [4], particularly Russia, which is using energy as an instrument of its negative influence», declared the US ambassador in Athens, Geoffrey Pyatt, emphasising that «Alexandroupolis has a crucial role to play in the energetic security and the stability of Europe».
The «Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement» with the USA is presented in this context, and was ratified by the Greek Parliament with 175 voices for, from the centre-right of the government (New Democracy and others) and 33 against (Communist Party and others), while 80 declared that they were «present» according to the formula of the US Congress, the equivalent of abstention, in use by the Greek Parliament. Syriza abstained, the Coalition of the Radical Left led by Aléxis TsíprasFirst of all resigning from the government, now in the opposition, in a country which, after been obliged to sell off its own economy, is now selling off not only its military bases, but also what is left of its sovereignty.

EN -- Manlio Dinucci -- The Art of War -- A call to arms, NATO mobilised on two fronts

Resultado de imagem para pictures of Defender Europe 20

« THE ART OF WAR »
A call to arms, NATO mobilised on two fronts

NATOME – this is how President Trump, who brags about his talent for creating acronyms, has already baptised the NATO deployment in the Middle East, which he demanded by telephone from Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of the Alliance. Stoltenberg immediately agreed that NATO must play a « more important role in the Middle East, particularly in training missions ». He also participated in the meeting of the EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs, declaring that the EU must stay connected to the United States and NATO because  « even though we have made enormous progress, Daesh might still rise again ». In this way, the United States are seeking to implicate the European allies in the chaotic situation provoked by the assassination, authorised by Trump himself, of Iranian General Soleimani as soon as he arrived in Baghdad.
After the Iraqi parliament had considered the expulsion of more than 5,000 US soldiers present in the country, plus thousands of Pentagon mercenaries, Prime Minister Abdul-Mahdi asked the State Department to send a delegation to establish the protocol for their withdrawal. The USA – answered the Departement – will send a delegation « not to discuss the troop's retreat, but an adequate protocol for the armed forces in the Middle East », adding that Washington is busy drawing up an agreement on the « strengthening of the role of NATO in Iraq, corresponding to the desires of the President, that the Allies should share the charge in all efforts for our collective defence ».
The plan is clear - to replace, either completely or in part, the US troops in Iraq with the troops of its  European allies, who will therefore find themselves in the most dangerous situations, as demonstrated by the fact that NATO itself postponed training missions in Iraq after the assassination of Soleimani.
Apart from the Southern front, NATO is also mobilised on the Eastern front. In order to « defend  Europe against the Russian menace », it is in the process of preparing the exercise Defender Europe 20, which will see in April and May the greatest deployment of US forces in Europe for the last 25 years. 20,000 soldiers, including several thousand  from the National Guard of 12 US States, will be arriving from the United States to join up with the 9,000 already present in Europe, for a total of approximately 30,000. With them, 7,000 soldiers from 13 European NATO member countries, including Italy, and two partners, Georgia and Finland. As well as armements which will be arriving from the other side of the Atlantic, US troops will be using 13,000 tanks, self-propelled cannons, armoured vehicles, and other military vehicles from US « pre-positioned depots » in Europe. Military convoys with armoured vehicles will travel 4,000 kilometres via 12 main roads, in connection with aircraft, helicopters, drones and naval units. US paratroops of the 173rd Brigade and Italians from the Brigade Folgore will be jumping together into Latvia.
The exercise Defender Europe 20 will be taking high ground later on, according to the US and NATO strategy following the aggravation of the crisis in the Middle East. The Pentagon, which only last year sent 14,000 more soldiers to the Middle East, is currently sending into this same area  certain forces which are preparing for the war exercise in Europe – 4,000 parachutists from the 82nd Airborne Division (including several hundred from Vicenza) and 4,500 Marines, including those from the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan. Other forces, either before or after the exercise in Europe, may be sent to the Middle East. The planning of Defender Europe 20, emphasises the Pentagon, nonetheless remains unchanged. In other words, 30,000 US soldiers will be training to defend Europe from a Russian aggression. A scenario which could not occur in reality, particularly because in any confrontation, it would not be tanks that would be used, but nuclear missiles – but it is a scenario which is useful for the increasing of tension and spreads the idea of an enemy presence.

EN -- Manlio Dinucci -- China, and not only Iran, is targeted by the USA

Resultado de imagem para pictures of the New Silk Road between China and Iran
China, and not only Iran, is targeted by the USA
 by Manlio Dinucci
The assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani authorised by President Donald Trump has set in motion a chain reaction which is spreading beyond the Middle Eastern region. This was in the intentions of the person who made the decision. Soleimani had long been in US cross-hairs, but Presidents Bush and Obama never authorised his assassination. Why did President Trump make this decision? For several reasons, among which is the personal interest of the President to dodge his destitution by presenting himself as an ardent defender of « America » faced with a dangerous enemy. The basic reason for the decision to assassinate Soleimani, taken by the Deep State before being taken by the White House, must be sought in a factor which has become critical for US interests only over the last few years – the growing economic presence of China in Iran.
Iran plays an essential role in the New Silk Road launched by Beijing in 2013, currently well under way – it consists of a road and rail network between China and Europe across Central Asia, the Middle East and Russia, combined with a sea route across the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Investments of more than 1,000 billion dollars are planned for all the road, rail, and maritime infrastructures in more than 60 countries. In this framework, China is making  investments of approximately 400 billion dollars - 280 in the oil, gas and petro-chemical industries and 120 in transport infrastructures, including oil and gas pipelines. It is planned that these investments, to be exploited over a five-year period, will later be renewed.
In the energy sector, the China National Petroleum Corporation, a publicly-owned company, received from the Iranian government a contract for the development of offshore drilling of the South Pars/North Dome field in the Persian Gulf, the largest reserve of natural gas in the world. Besides this, with another Chinese company, Sinopec (75% State property), Iran is engaged in the development of the production of the oil fields of West Karoun. Defying the US embargo, China  is increasing the import of Iranian oil. Even more serious for the United States is the fact that in these commercial agreements – and others – between China and Iran, there is to be increasing use of Chinese renminbi (yuan) and other currencies, with increasing exclusion of the dollar.
In the transport sector, China has signed a contract for the electrification of 900 kilometres of Iranian railways, in the framework of a project which plans for the electrification of the entire rail network by 2025, and will probably also sign for a high-speed railway of more than 400 kilometres. The Iranian railways are linked to the 2,300 kilometre line which already connects China and Iran, reducing the merchandise transport time to 15 days instead of 45 days by maritime transport. Via Tabriz, a large industrial town in the north-west of Iran – the starting point of a 2,500 kilometre gas pipeline which arrives in Ankara in Turkey – the transport infrastructures for the new Silk Road could thus connect with Europe.
The agreements between China and Iran do not plan for military components, but according to an Iranian source, in order to guard the sites, they do plan for approximately 5,000 Chinese guards, employed by the construction companies for the security services. It is also significant that at the end of December, the first naval exercise between Iran, China and Russia will have taken place in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
Taking these facts into account, it is not difficult to see why Soleimani's assassination was decided in Washington – it was planned to provoke a military riposte by Tehran in order to tighten the stranglehold on Iran and justify an attack, and also to hit the Chinese project of the New Silk Road which the USA does not have the means to oppose in the economic sector. The chain reaction triggered by the assassination of Soleimani will also implicate China and Russia, creating a situation which is becoming increasingly dangerous.
