Top 3 Limnos beaches

Are you ready for a new round? Today I'm sharing with you my three favorite beaches on Limnos island, so let's start!
The coast at Gomati is located on the north side of Limnos and has one of the most sandy shores on the island. It has one Kantina, sunbeds, crystal clear water and the best sand, so, it is a must visit place especially if you like quite beach for yourself and you are in love with the nature!

Now, we are moving to the east! Nestled between the two lakes you can find a long sandy beach with turquoise waters - Keros. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of the island distinguished for its natural beauty. Windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts will fall in love (you will also fall in love if you are SUP beginner like me, or nature love, or Sagittarius )! So if you one be one with the nature this is the place for you!

p.s. you can join the Surf club and sleep in a luxurious safari tent, glamping all the way!

And the number one is - Thanos beach! A long sandy beach with azure waters located on the south side of the island (around 4km from Myrina). It is a partially organized beach with taverna and beach bars. It's long enough for those who are looking for privacy (or if you are not into tan lines, there is a place for naturists too). The volcanic rocks of the surrounding area offer amazing views. You will love it, I promise!

p.s. while you there, be sure to stop by to Costa, Costa beach bar, say Hi to lovely owner Ana and have totally organic mojito, yes organic!

Places to visit in Limnos

Embrace those vacation vibes cause you'll be surprised by the beauty of Limnos!
For this roundup I'm sharing with you some of the amazing places I had the chance to see thanks to Inter Holidays, let's start!
What happens when hot volcanic lava flood into the crystal sea water? You get the dozens of shades of yellow frozen lava and the spherical geological formations million years old called Falakro! Amazing creation of mother nature at the north of the island is definitely a must visit place!

The sand dunes, also known as “Pachies Ammoudies”, are by far the most attractive element of the island Limnos. Created by natural erosion caused by the prevailing winds blowing across the sea.  This “sea of sand” is brought up alongside the Limnos coastline and creates this amazing phenomenon.  The ever-changing terrain and landscape of the sand dunes are accompanied by the deep blue colors of the Aegean Sea making for an unforgettable sight. Must visit place, too!

And are you ready for a special place now? Full of flamingos maybe? Yes, those little toothpicks are flamingos actually and Aliki, a salt lake in Limnos is their home! So if you are crazy about the birds, bring your cameras, zoom lenses, binoculars and stop to observe this beauty! The salt lake is a coastal salt marsh on the northeast coast of the island. It is separated by the sea by 2 km of sand dunes. In the summer, the lake dries up, leaving a salt flat and during the winter months, it is home to migratory birds and has the highest seasonal population of flamingos in Europe. But, if you are lucky enough you will see them in the summer too!

Okay, they are not picturesque like windmills in Mykonos, but these one are apartments to rent! If you want a super quite vacation, read a book in the old traditional village Kontias, then this is a place for you!
p.s. don't be loud while you over there, windmills are full of guests!

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags!

Myrina

                                                                                               ph. me
                                                                                               location: Myrina, Limnos island

Thanks to Inter Holidays I spent ten days in Limnos, an island of Greece in the northern part of Aegean sea known for its extraordinary rocky geology, stunning beaches, verdant greenery and rich history. It is mostly a perfect destination for laid back and cultural holidays, but it also offers adventurous activities, like kite surfing and other water sports.
Today I'm sharing with you photos from Myrina, a charming capital of the island, constructed around a large port, where ferries to Limnos arrive, partly developed in tourism, but also retaining its traditional and historical traits. Its lovely waterfront and little paved streets are ideal for a relaxing walk.
So, here are my top things to do while you in Myrina:
-  stroll through Neoclassical promenade mansions of the 19th century
-  head to the impressive Venetian Castle on the rocky promontory above the town
- wait for the sunsets, cause they are amazing
-  go for a lunch or dinner at waterfront tavernas (Kosmos, Cavo del Mare...)
- buy a straw hat from a local store
- check the pharmacies cause they have Korres cosmetic products. ;)

Stay tuned for more!
