GUEST CONTRIBUITIONS: The Revolutionary Act Of Telling The Truth -- by John Pilger

The Revolutionary Act Of Telling The Truth

By John Pilger

John Pilger, speaking at the launch in London of The WikiLeaks Files, with an introduction by Julian Assange.

September 30, 2015 "Information Clearing House" -  George Orwell said, “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

These are dark times, in which the propaganda of deceit touches all our lives. It is as if political reality has been privatised and illusion legitimised. The information age is a media age. We have politics by media; censorship by media; war by media; retribution by media; diversion by media - a surreal assembly line of clichés and false assumptions.

Wondrous technology has become both our friend and our enemy. Every time we turn on a computer or pick up a digital device – our secular rosary beads -- we are subjected to control: to surveillance of our habits and routines, and to lies and manipulation.

Edward Bernays, who invented the term, “public relations” as a euphemism for “propaganda”, predicted this more than 80 years ago. He called it, “the invisible government”.

He wrote, “Those who manipulate this unseen element of [modern democracy] constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of ...”

The aim of this invisible government is the conquest of us: of our political consciousness, our sense of the world, our ability to think independently, to separate truth from lies.

This is a form of fascism, a word we are rightly cautious about using, preferring to leave it in the flickering past.  But an insidious modern fascism is now an accelerating danger. As in the 1930s, big lies are delivered with the regularity of a metronome. Muslims are bad. Saudi bigots are good. ISIS bigots are bad. Russia is always bad. China is getting bad. Bombing Syria is good. Corrupt banks are good. Corrupt debt is good. Poverty is good. War is normal.
Those who question these official truths, this extremism, are deemed in need of a lobotomy – until they are diagnosed on-message.  The BBC provides this service free of charge. Failure to submit is to be tagged a “radical” – whatever that means.

Real dissent has become exotic; yet those who dissent have never been more important. The book I am launching tonight, The WikiLeaks Files, is an antidote to a fascism that never speaks its name.

It’s a revolutionary book, just as WikiLeaks itself is revolutionary – exactly as Orwell meant in the quote I used at the beginning.  For it says that we need not accept these the daily lies. We need not remain silent. Or as Bob Marley once sang: “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.”

In the introduction, Julian Assange explains that it is never enough to publish the secret messages of great power: that making sense of them is crucial, as well as placing them in the context of today and historical memory.

That is the remarkable achievement of this anthology, which reclaims our memory. It connects the reasons and the crimes that have caused so much human turmoil, from Vietnam and Central America, to the Middle East and Eastern Europe, with the matrix of rapacious power, the United States.

There is currently an American and European attempt to destroy the government of Syria. Prime Minister David Cameron is especially keen. This is the same David Cameron I remember as an unctuous PR man employed by an asset stripper of Britain’s independent commercial television.

Cameron, Obama and the ever obsequious Francois Hollande want to destroy the last remaining multi-cultural authority in Syria, an action that will surely make way for the fanatics of ISIS.

This is insane, of course, and the big lie justifying this insanity is that it is in support of Syrians who rose against Bashar al-Assad in the Arab Spring. As The WikiLeaks Files reveals, the destruction of Syria has long been a cynical imperial project that pre-dates the Arab Spring uprising against Assad.

To the rulers of the world in Washington and Europe, Syria’s true crime is not the oppressive nature of its government but its independence from American and Israeli power – just as Iran’s true crime is its independence, and Russia’s true crime is its independence, and China’s true crime is its independence.  In an American-owned world, independence is intolerable.

This book reveals these truths, one after the other.  The truth about a war on terror that was always a war of terror; the truth about Guantanamo, the truth about Iraq, Afghanistan, Latin America.

Never has such truth-telling been so urgently needed. With honourable exceptions, those in the media paid ostensibly to keep the record straight are now absorbed into a system of propaganda that is no longer journalism, but anti-journalism. This is true of the liberal and respectable as it is of Murdoch. Unless you are prepared to monitor and deconstruct every specious assertion, so-called news has become unwatchable and unreadable.

Reading The WikiLeaks Files, I remembered the words of the late Howard Zinn, who often referred to “a power that governments can’t suppress”.  That describes WikiLeaks, and it describes true whistleblowers who share their courage.

On a personal note, I have known the people of WikiLeaks for some time now. That they have achieved what they have in circumstances not of their choosing is a source of constant admiration. Their rescue of Edward Snowden comes to mind. Like him, they are heroic: nothing less.

Sarah Harrison’s chapter, ‘Indexing the Empire’, describes how she and her comrades set up an entire Public Library of US Diplomacy. There are more than two million documents, now available to all.  “Our work,” she writes, “is dedicated to making sure history belongs to everyone.”  How thrilling it is to read those words, which also stand as a tribute to her own courage.

From the confinement of a room in the Ecuadorean embassy in London, the courage of Julian Assange is an eloquent response to the cowards who have smeared him and the rogue power seeking revenge on him and waging a war on democracy.

None of this has deterred Julian and his comrades at WikiLeaks: not one bit.   Isn’t that something?

Charity isn't an Alternate for Animal Sacrifice/Qurbani:

Charity isn't an Alternate for Qurbani:

Some people think that instead of offering a Qurbani they should give its amount to some poor people as charity. This attitude is totally wrong. Actually, there are different forms of worship obligatory on Muslims. Each one of them has its own importance and none of them can stand for the other. It is not permissible for a Muslim to perform salah instead of fasting in Ramadan, nor is it permissible for him to give some charity instead of observing the obligatory Salah. Similarly, Qurbani is an independent form of worship and this obligation cannot be discharged by spending money in charity.

However, if somebody, out of his ignorance or negligence, could not offer Qurbani on the three prescribed days (10th, 1lth and 12th Zulhijjah) then, in that case only, he can give the price of a Qurbani as sadaqah to those entitled to receive Zakah. But during the days of Qurbani no Sadaqah can discharge the obligation.

Question: During the days of Eidul-Adha is it better to offer Udhiyah/Qurbani (sacrifice) or give Charity (in general)?

Scholars of Islam have stated that its better to offer Udhiyah/Qurbani (sacrifice). Ibn al-Qayyim (RA) said in Tuhfat al-Mawdood:

الذبح في موضعه أفضل من الصدقة بثمنه ولو زاد ، كالهدايا والأضاحي ، فإن نفس الذبح وإراقة الدم مقصود ، فإنه عبادة مقرونة بالصلاة

Sacrifice at the appropriate time, such as during Hajj and on Eid al-Adha, is better than giving its price in charity even if one gives more, because offering a sacrifice and shedding blood is what is required, and it is an act of worship that is mentioned alongside prayer...

 The true philosophy of Qurbani:

The present-day Qurbani is offered in memory of the great model of submission set before us by the great father Ibrahim عليه سلم  and the great son Ismael عليه سلم . So Qurbani must be offered in our time emulating the same ideal and attitude of submission.

This, then, is the true philosophy of Qurbani. With this in mind, one can easily unveil the fallacy of those who raise objections against Qurbani on the basis of economic calculations and depict it to be a wastage of money, resources and livestock. Unable to see beyond mundane benefits, they cannot understand the spirit Islam wants to plant and nourish among its followers, the spirit of total submission to Allah's will which equips man with most superior qualities so necessary to keep humanity in a state of lasting peace and welfare.

Qurbani is nothing but a powerful symbol of the required human conduct vis-a-vis the divine commands, however "irrational" or "uneconomic" they may seem to be in their appearance. Thus, the distrustful quest for mundane economic benefits behind Qurbani is, in fact, the negation of its real philosophy and the very spirit underlying it.

Finding Your Right Bra Size

The majority of women wear ill-fitting bras – this fact cannot be overemphasized. Wearing a bra with the right size of both band and cup seems to be a moving target. So many parameters are required for a bra to fit properly. But what is the issue if a bra does not fit?

Finding Your Right Bra Size

Consequences of an ill Fitting Bra

  • Breasts overflow at the top
  • Straps are bound to fall off
  • An ill-fitting bra is not aesthetically appealing
  • The band rests on the breasts and not on the ribs
  • Feeling suffocated if band is too tight
  • Breasts may slip under the band if it is loose
  • The required support may not be achieved
  • Straps dig in – this may lead to headaches, neck-ache and back pain

A bra that does not fit properly may also result in poor blood circulation, an issue that causes a pricking sensation in the fingers.

So, how do you find your right bra size? The easiest way to do it is to find an experienced bra fitting assistant. They will not only inform you about your ideal size but also show you different styles to try and see which ones have a better look. Not all types of bras will suit you.

How to Measure Your Bra Size

If you can’t find a professional bra shop near you, you can still measure yourself by following these steps:

Step 1
Remove your clothing and stand upright

Step 2
Take a flexible tape measure (like a tailor’s measure) and lay it just below your bust where the band is supposed to be. This measure will give you your correct band size. Be sure that you are standing straight and that the tape is horizontal. Make the measurement a little tighter than is done when measuring for other clothing.

The result you get in inches is your band size. If you get an odd number, like 37, you can try bras with a band size 36 and 38. It’s normally better to start with the lower number.

Step 3
To determine your cup size, place the tape measure on the widest part of your bust. This will usually be on the nipples. Once again, take the measure in inches, with the tape parallel to the floor. Should you get an odd number, opt for the lower even number.

If your bust is saggy, you will get a more accurate figure if you already have a good fitting bra on. If you do not have one, pick one which seems to fit. Adjust it for the fit and not looks.

Step 4
Subtract cup size (step 3) from the band size (step 2). Check in the table below to see your cup size.

Where to Buy Good Quality Bras

Although there are many outlets that sell bras both online and offline, Amazon stands out from them all. There is a wide range of styles and brands to choose from. The customer feedback feature enables you to figure out which bras are the best even before you buy. Make the right decision. Find a bra that fits your size.

Do You Wear a Normal Bra Under a Sports Bra?

Do You Wear a Normal Bra under a Sports Bra?

Wearing a Sports Bra Over a Regular Bra

Whether or not you should wear a regular bra under a sports bra is a controversial issue. In ideal circumstances, you should not wear anything underneath your workout bra. If you buy a properly fitting and good quality bra, you are not supposed to bother wearing it over a normal one.

An athletic Bra is meant to be comfortable as workout underwear. Wearing another bra underneath it makes it uncomfortable. If you feel comfier when you wear a bra with a sports bra, then you’re wearing poor quality or wrong size or style.

Disadvantages of Wearing Clothing Under a Sports Bra

Because a sports bra is supposed to be a workout innerwear, wearing clothing inside results in some difficulties. Below are some of the nuisances that come with the practice:

  1. Athletic bras are made to wick away moisture – wearing them over things disables this feature. You therefore become hotter and soggy
  2. Some regular bras push the bust closer thereby hindering ventilation
  3. When the breasts are held closer, minimizing the figure-8 movement is obstructed
  4. Normal bras are made with tough materials which can dig and/pinch under the pressure of compression garments
  5. When taking part in exercises involving lifting your hands above the head, the thin straps of normal bras will dig into your shoulders
Should you wear a bra with a sports bra
Athletes in sports bras. As you can see, these bras do not offer sufficient coverage

Can You Wear 2 Sports Bras?

Some ladies argue that two are better than one. The bottom line is that wearing two is better than wearing a regular one inside. But this is bound to make you hotter especially when exercising. The better option is to look for a double layer sports bra.

If your bra fits but is too thin to wear alone, consider layering over rather than under. For instance, you can wear a feminine sports tank or T-shirt over your workout bra. Something else you can try is detachable bra pads. You can even use breast petals or nipple covers.

Why Girls Wear a Sports Bra Over a Normal Bra

There are many reasons why some girls and women are adamant about using a regular bra underneath. Some of them are highlighted below:

  • To hide the nipples
  • Make breasts appear bigger – most athletic bras tend to have a minimizing effect
  • Out of habit – women are used to layering clothes and wearing just one item on the top does not feel okay
  • To enhance support – this mostly happens to busty women
  • Fashion designers are nowadays making athletic style bras for everyday wear. Some consumers confuse these with workout bras and wear them for exercise, necessitating layering
  • The influx of imitation workout bras. Only buy top-rated sports bras
  • Some ladies are either unwilling or unable to invest in good quality sports gear
  • Some sports bras are somewhat translucent
  • Avoid embarrassment in public changing rooms

Normal Bra under a Sports Bra

Though wearing a sports bra alone is the ideal thing, it is by no means the easiest undertaking. The answer to this issue lies in buying a good quality bra in your correct size. Top rated manufacturers of sports bras include;

  • Champion
  • Under Armour
  • Adidas
  • Nike
  • Victoria’s Secret
  • Calvin Klein
  • Fruit of the loom
  • Fittin
  • Glamorise
  • Hanes
  • Syrokan

You can find all these brands at Amazon.
If you must wear your athletic bra over other bras, here are some points to ponder upon:

  1. Choose a bra with no underwire
  2. Opt for bras with wider straps
  3. Make the bra underneath discreet to avoid embarrassment
  4. If you must show any part of a regular bra underneath your sports gear, do it intentionally and be sure you are comfortable with it – avoid scenarios of wardrobe mishaps
  5. Avoid pushup bras
  6. Consider layering over the bra rather than underneath

Comfort is the key in any outfit. Experimenting with different brands may give you a simple answer. But whether you wear other clothing under your sports bra or not is a decision that you should make with your personal comfort as the first priority.

Pretending/Faking knowledge:

Pretending/Faking knowledge:

Recently, Karl Taro Greenfeld, a journalist and author, published an op-ed in the New York Times on faking cultural literacy. “It’s never been so easy,” he wrote, “to pretend to know so much without actually knowing anything. We pick topical, relevant bits from Facebook, Twitter or emailed news alerts, and then regurgitate them.”

It’s never been easier to fake knowledge than it is now. You can pop open a Wikipedia page and within a few minutes feign competence. If you do this a few times and you don’t get called out, you come to believe that you’re actually pretty competent in something you really have no clue about.

Such intellectual dishonesty is prohibited in Islam. The prophet ﺻﻠﯽ الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ ﻋﻠﯿﮧ ﻭﺍٓﻟﮧ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said, "the one who boasts of receiving what he has not been given is like him who has put on two garments of falsehood." Abu Dawud (with a Sahih chain)

Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه said, “Whoever decorates himself by displaying to the people some characteristics that Allah  knows are contrary to his real characteristics, will be disgraced and dishonoured by Allah.” [Ad-Daaraqutnee, 4/207]

It’s bad not just because it’s dishonest. It’s bad also because we make real, sometimes life altering decisions based on this fakery that can have serious consequences for ourselves and others in Dunya and Akhirah.

Unable to discern between what we know and what we pretend to know, we ultimately become victims of our own laziness and intellectual dishonesty.

In a lecture at the Galileo Symposium in Italy in 1964, the future Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman, said “The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool.”

One of the reasons for faking knowledge is that the Internet forums and social media have opened up the fields of religious debates and sectarian preaching/poaching to the common people who resort to copy-pasting and faking knowledge to prove their 'authentic' version of Islam and beat their opponents.

Another reason is that we’ve become scared to say, “I don’t know,” lest we be considered less knowledgeable by others. Whether the subject is religious, political or professional, those words are disappearing quickly from our vocabulary.

We should remember that the Islamic tradition actually encourages even the scholars to say "I don't know" in the presence of other qualified people who can answer a question or in case of a lack of certain knowledge on the issue.

Importance of Saying: "I don't know":

Imam Malik رحمه الله  said:

“The shield of the Scholar is, ‘I do not know’, so if he leaves it down, his attacker will strike him.” [Al-Intiqaa’, p. 37]

Imam Ibn ‘Adbil-Barr رحمه الله  said:

“It is authentically related from Abu Dardaa’ رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه  that ‘I do not know’ is half of knowledge.” [Jaami’ Bayaanil ‘Ilm Wa Fadhlih, 1/54]

‘Adbullaah Ibn Yazeed Ibn Hurmuz رحمه الله  said:

“It is befitting for the scholar that he passes on to his students the statement, ‘I do not know’, until that becomes the foundation that they flee to.”

Abu Bakr as-Sideeq رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه  said:

“Which sky will shade me? And which land will harbour me if I were to speak about the Book of Allah without sound knowledge?”

Ibn Mas’ood رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه  said:

“O people! Anyone who is questioned about that which he has knowledge of then let him speak, and anyone who does not have knowledge then he should say “Allah knows best“, for certainly from having knowledge is to say “Allah knows best” regarding that which you do not know.”

Imam Ash-Sha’bee was questioned about an issue and he said:

“I am not well-versed in it.” So his companions said to him: “We have become shy for you.” So he said: “But the angels did not become shy when it was said, “…we have no knowledge except what you have taught us…” [2:32] ”

May Allah protect us from all forms of dishonesty. آمين يا رب العالمين

How to Wear a Maxi Dress

How to Wear a Maxi Dress

How to Style a Maxi Dress

Ever since the maxi dress came into fashion, it has evolved to become the outfit that every woman is yearning to wear. For each style of mini or midi skirt available, fashion stores make available a similar one in maxi lengths. Though maxi dresses have become more readily available, they are not automatically easy to style. A long dress worn the wrong way can look like a night gown. However, if you wear it the correct way, it can be flattering and fabulous looking.
Some people wrongly think that long dresses can only fit formal occasions. But maxi dresses can be fashioned to become stylish, attractive and feminine. To achieve this, you need to choose a style that best suits your shape, height and weight. You can also configure a diversity of looks with one dress by using different accessories.
A long dress can spice up your looks if you are slim and tall. To bring out the best outcome, opt for halter-neck or thin straps. Spaghetti straps are particularly nice in toned colors. To complete the outfit, Wear a slim belt in accentuating colors . You can also use horizontal stripes if you are very slender.
Plus size ladies will find that a long dress is particularly good at hiding the bulges. If you have big hips, choose a dress with an ornamented bodice, or add accessories like a necklace to bring attention to the top. If you like flashing your arms, avoid thin straps and opt for wide straps, cap sleeves, halter-neck or a sleeveless gown. You may still wear spaghetti straps if you like but they are best if in toned colors.
For petites and the pear shaped, grab a full-length gown with a V-neck and pair with heels. Dark, neutral and nude colors are best for creating the illusion of height. If you want a printed outfit, opt for medium prints. Use shapewear or a slimming belt to conceal your tummy. An ordinary belt at the natural waist or just below the bust also looks good.
Petites and plus size women should go for dress and skirt designs that are form-fitting but not tight. Although solid colors are great, vertical stripes and prints create a taller look. If you want a pleated dress, find one with the pleats sewn in around the hip area. Pleats seem to exaggerate the hips. Sewn in pleats will work well as tummy control panel.
  • During the summer, wear a gown that is flowy and in a soft and light fabric, like white. If the air is very hot, put on a cotton slip under the dress to absorb sweat. In such warm weather, light-colored clothes are more appropriate because they reflect heat rather than absorb. A light-weight shirt in a bright color is also fine.
  • In winter, long dresses are very useful in hiding layers underneath. You can wear tights, leggings, shorts or skinny jeans to keep you warmer. While choosing a heavy coat or cardigan, also think or wearing a T-shirt inside.
How to Wear a Maxi Dress

What to Wear Over a Maxi Dress

You can wear almost all types of tops over a maxi dress. These include jackets, cardigans, sweaters and coats. You can button up or leave hanging. If you don’t like the look of the bodice, you may opt to zip-up or wear a tank top or T-shirt under the jacket. This is also a good way of transitioning your dress into a skirt, thereby creating two outfits with the same dress.
Many women love a black or dark maxi dress owing to its ease in combination. Being neutral, it will go well with many colors. You can spice it up by pairing with other neutrals in brighter colors like blue or even prints and stripes. For summer wear, opt for white or other lighter color tops to warm up the look.
Sweaters look good with long gowns if they are not form-fitting. They add a little warmth which may not be sufficient in the winter. They are ideal for spring and fall. During the summer, choose an aerated sweater. Many designs and colors of sweaters that offer cover-up but are dotted with ventilating holes are widely available.
In the winter, long coats and blazers are ideal for making you warm while providing room to hide layers underneath. Tunic tops and other long tops may also be good during such weather. In the warmer months, they can be worn in lighter fabrics to provide a casual and laid-back look.
Strappy or strapless dresses are ideal for summer outdoor events. However, some women may feel overly exposed while others may be sensitive to the scotching sun. In such cases, a denim jacket comes in handy. It covers you but will not make you unnecessarily hot.
A Denim Jacket is a perfect addition to a long dress or skirt. It adds glamour and spices up the outfit. A jeans jacket in black, white or faded blue will go with almost all color maxis. Denim tops are also a casual staple. Boyfriend or men’s blazers are also fine with long gowns.
Jeans Button up Shirts are good if the weather is not too cold. If you want to add extra warmth, you can layer a T-shirt under or over the dress. Other button down shirts are also okay if they look good. If you want to add color to your dress without clashing, choose a shirt or other top in the same hue as dress but in a different shade.
Some special occasion dresses usually come in styles such as strapless or halter-neck. While these are perfect in warm weather, they can be uncomfortable in the winter or evenings. Fur wraps and stoles are good for thin straps, strapless and sleeveless dresses. Some lighter wraps are made only for the purposes of style. They are made of light-weight materials like silk. Other materials like cotton may offer some warmth, depending on how heavy they are woven. Wraps are usually available in colors that will go well with most dresses.

What Shoes to Wear With a Maxi Dress

The best types of shoes to wear with a maxi dress are those that reveal your feet. Due to the dressy nature of long skirts, wearing closed shoes creates the impression of exaggerated coverage. Such footwear may also make people believe you have flawed feet. Perfect shoes include open-toe, strappy and pumps.
For tall women, wedges and flats are cute. Plus sizes, petites and curvy ladies will look better in heels as they add more balance to the overall appearance. Any color of shoes is fabulous if it does not conflict with the style and hue of the dress.
Though boots and booties do not look great with maxi dresses, they are ideal in winter. Layer them with tights, leggings or thick socks (or skinny jeans if you like) for more warmth. For a better look, wear boots that are tall enough to be covered by the hem.

How to Wear a Maxi Dress

What to Wear Under a Maxi Dress

The best items of underwear for skirts and dresses are those with a full back coverage. G-strings and others like thongs tend to make the dress get stuck between your buttocks, an embarrassment that happens without the wearer’s knowledge.
Some ladies will choose to wear Bike Shorts underneath clothes for a variety of reasons. One issue is that billowy gowns in soft fabrics are bound to go with the wind. While maxis are nowadays mostly sewn out of these feminine materials, it is a good idea to add a skin-tight short inside if you are going to a windy area.
Legwear or hosiery are items that can go under clothes. Tights or leggings are vital in the winter. They add warmth and at the same time increase modesty. Ladies with thin legs can wear the thicker varieties to increase the thickness of their legs. Skinny jeans can also work. These items do not go well with sheer or see-through gowns. They create the illusion of no underwear.
If your dress is see-through, the first option you should consider is wearing a Slip or Half-Slip underneath. They are available in a variety of lengths, colors and fabrics. They prevent abrasion from rough materials like knit wool. Some also designed to double-up as Shapewear and work the same way as a slimming belt or tummy control panel.
Wearing a shorter dress under a maxi is also a good way of solving the issue of showing the silhouette of your legs. These include bodycon or tube dresses. Another alternative is to ask your local seamstress to fix a lining inside the waistband. Although this might not be as an in-built lining, it works the same way.
The choice of bra to wear with your maxi dress depends on the style of the outfit. A strapless dress goes with a strapless bra, while a low-back gown pairs with a bra in the same style. Backless or halter-neck dresses also go with specialized bras. Some of these clothes sometimes come with attached cups which do not offer sufficient support to busty women. While revealing your bra straps does not necessarily look good, some ladies will use the straps for styling some clothes. If this be the case, take the mirror test and see whether you look fine.

How to Accessorize a Maxi Dress

The point of adding ornaments to your dress is to harmonize, balance and bring the spotlight to specific areas. You can take the hue or theme of your maxi dress as the starting point and choose accessories in different shades of that color. For example if your dress is deep blue, it can be accessorized with jewelry and shoes in navy, light and sky blue.
Another issue to consider is the occasion you going to attend. For a wedding, accessorizing is best done with items that are wedding appropriate. For office or business gatherings, opt for business acceptable accessory pieces. Casual dresses can go with almost anything.
For black or neutral maxi dresses, you can jazz up the look with sparkling jewelry and shoes. The idea here is to add color and spice-up the plainness of the outfit. If the attire is too conspicuous, consider wearing simple jewels to achieve the right balance.
A belt is one item that is essential in styling a long dress or skirt. It clearly defines your waist while at the same time differentiates your dress from maternity wear or sleeping gowns. Broad belts are amazing with petite ladies and plus sizes, while thin ones look attractive when worn by slender ladies. You could as well utilize a draw-string tie, if fitted, or a belted jacket.
The style of your clothing and your body shape dictate the correct type of necklace for you. For a halter-neck style outfit, it’s better to wear no necklace. For dresses with wide open shoulders like strapless or spaghetti, a choker necklace is just right. Round necked and button down clothes require long necklaces.
Ladies with thick necks should avoid short necklaces as these tend to appear somewhat obscured. Multiple strand necklaces look good on such women. If you are curvy, avoid very small pieces. For petite ladies, opt for short ones as long necklaces will make you appear shorter. If you have a long slender neck, select a short or collar necklace.

Can You Wear a Maxi Dress to a Wedding?

Although you can wear a maxi dress or skirt to a wedding, it depends on the type of event and where it is held. The style and fabric of your gown is also a determining factor. Generally speaking, backless, strapless, see-through and high slits are not appropriate. Other styles like the sundress are made to be casual.
The best materials for a wedding guest maxi dress are satin, silk and chiffon. Casual looking materials are not acceptable especially if the outfit is too thin. An attached lining or slip worn underneath may solve the situation. If the dress still looks too informal, it can only be suitable for a casual beach or outdoor wedding. Long flowy dresses offer the required don’t-care look appropriate for such occasions.
The whole point of wearing a maxi dress to a wedding is to look stylish but not look like the bride or the bridesmaid. White may therefore not be fit as it may look like the wedding gown especially if it is strapless. If you prefer white or ivory clothing, accessorize with other colors. If you must wear black, add colors to your other clothing to avoid looking like a mourner.
If your maxi dress shows too much of your arms and shoulders, you may be confused with a bridesmaid. In such a case, you should consider throwing a shrug on top. Remember that some weddings have no bridesmaids and other guests might think you are the one.
If you shy away from wearing a maxi dress, may be it’s time you tried one. Do not think that it will not fit you. Try different styles and you’ll finally find what is nice for you. Using these tips will greatly help you in looking good in your long dress whatever style of maxi dress you choose. Knowledge of Arabic Is Not Sufficient to do Tafsir of Quran- Imam Nawawi

Knowledge of Arabic Is Not Sufficient to do Tafsir of Quran

One of the greatest Hadith masters and Faqih, Imam Nawawi ra said:

"It is not sufficient to simply know Arabic. Rather, one must also know all that qualified scholars of Tafsir  have said about [a given passage of the Quran], for they may have consensus that the apparent [meaning of a verse, for example,] is something to be disregarded and that what is intended is a specific or implied meaning, or something else contrary to the obvious. Likewise, if a phrase has different meanings and it is known that one of those meanings is intended, one then explicates each occurrence [of the phrase] that comes [separately].

All of the foregoing [depicts] the offering of Tafsir by way of [uninformed] opinion, and this is unlawful.

And God knows best."
