Something Interesting...

I would just like to point out something I've noticed recently. One of my older sisters is engaged, and has asked me to be her Maid of Honor. Since I have no idea what I'm doing, I've taken to Pinterest to help me with the planning of the wedding. (The way Pinterest works is that you fill in your interests and the site give you people to follow based on that. Once you have been using Pinterest for a while, you can choose to follow whomever you want and pin whatever. From then on, the site takes note of what you pin and posts pins similar to that in which you might be interested.) So, I've been pinning things to a board for my sister. I've pinned dresses, color schemes, tips about photographers, table settings, etc.
Interestingly enough, after I had been pinning things associated with weddings, Pinterest began to bombard my home page with pins about babies (pregnancy, baby photo shoots, baby food, sleep schedules), cleaning tricks, and cookbooks. I am hoping that the site just does this because that's what other people who are pinning wedding things are pinning, and that's the only way it knows how to come up with suggestions. But I couldn't help but think that this was just an extremely suggestive move. As if Pinterest is saying, Oh, look! You're getting married! Time to become a mother and homemaker! I have no idea what my sister's intentions are, but I think it's a bit curious that Pinterest would make this assumption.
